NEW YORK, NY — The NBA Finals shift to the bright lights of Madison Square Garden tonight as the New York Knicks host the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals. New York enters the contest with a commanding 2-0 series lead after winning both games in San Antonio and now has an opportunity to move one step closer to its first NBA championship in more than five decades.

The Knicks have been fueled throughout the postseason by the outstanding play of All-Star guard Jalen Brunson and a balanced roster that has consistently delivered in big moments. New York captured Game 1 by a score of 105-95 before surviving a dramatic Game 2 battle, edging the Spurs 105-104 to take control of the series.

Tonight's matchup marks the first NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden since 1999, creating an atmosphere that is expected to be among the loudest and most electric in franchise history. Knicks fans have waited 27 years to see their team play a Finals game on their home court, and the city is ready for the moment.

For New York, the formula has been simple: tough defense, disciplined execution, and timely scoring from its stars. The Knicks have done an impressive job slowing San Antonio's transition game while receiving major contributions from Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Josh Hart alongside Brunson.

The Spurs, meanwhile, enter Game 3 facing a must-win situation. Despite strong performances from Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox, San Antonio has been unable to close out either of the first two games. Wembanyama remains the focal point of the Spurs' offense and will need another dominant performance if San Antonio hopes to get back into the series.

Spurs coaches have emphasized the need for improved defensive rotations and a faster pace of play as they attempt to steal a road victory and shift momentum back in their favor. History is not on their side, however, as very few teams have recovered from an 0-2 deficit in the NBA Finals after dropping the first two games on their home floor.

For the Knicks, the focus remains on finishing the job one game at a time. Brunson has publicly embraced a championship mindset, insisting that the team remains locked in despite holding a series advantage.

Tipoff for Game 3 is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden. A Knicks victory would put New York on the brink of ending a 53-year championship drought, while a Spurs win would breathe new life into the Finals and create a pivotal Game 4 showdown later this week.
